TRIDDANA - Interview 2013

1/ Hello friends. What a surprise to find you under the name of a new group. Can you recall the origins of Triddana? Why did you leave Skiltron? The conflict was irreversible ?

Triddana started around March 2011, after we left Skiltron.  We started from zero, without name nor songs.  With nothing but ourselves. As you see, we continue doing a very similar style of music, so the differences between Skiltron and us are only personal. There were serious problems with them, and we decided to leave the band. Sadly, the break with them is irreversible. But we wanted to keep doing music together, so we made Triddana.

2/ One thing is for sure, you do not change your style of music! I would say even better, it seems to me that you have made your style more affordable for a more large audience ...

3/ What do you think of the production of the new one? I find it more professional than the albums of Skiltron. What is the recipe this time?

Well, one thing that did help us was that we had already been playing the songs before recording the album, since some of them had been recorded and released as an EP. Being into the songs is really helpful, you get to the recording session with a better feel. On the other hand, I think the accumulated experience from our past in Skiltron also adds to it. After all, we had been working with each other for the past years and we all learnt a lot from that.

4/ Many auditors should ask your attractiveness to Celtic music... while you live in Argentina !! Are you part of the large Irish community living in Argentina ?

Sort of... some of our members played in Celtic folk bands in the past, and the band's piper belongs to the Scottish community, having family his roots inside the community. But we'd rather say that the main thing is Celtic music being magical and the fact that in Argentina there's been a lot of immigration from countries with great Celtic influence, like Scotland, Ireland and Spain.

5/ "All souls night" is one of my favorite songs of Loreena McKennitt, where you came this brilliant idea of making a cover ?

It was Diego's idea to cover the song. He liked it a lot and knew that the melody was very well suited for him, that if he sung it in his vocal range it would sound amazing. Then we tried it out with our instruments (the ones in the original song are quite different!). In particular, the bagpipe captures the seductiveness of the melody in the beginning and gives it an extra touch of power. I think the rest of the merit lies in Juan's arrangement that is in very good taste.

6/ What influences or musical love would I be surprised to hear about MOST, coming from you ?

It is always healthy to have a wide range of musical influences, so I don’t think any answer to your question should be surprising! Whilst our most obvious influences are traditional heavy metal and Scottish/Irish music, all of us have got a taste for rock music in general, jazz, funk, classical music and other stuff.

7/ Here in Europe, groups living in style Pagan / folk get together and toured extensively (Paganfest etc..). A tour in Europe is feasible?

Oui on l'espère !!!

8/ Beyond Bringing Such a masterpiece (let's use the right word!), I guess all of you Have a real life ... Who are Triddana's band members?

Oh, thanks once again!!! But hey! Triddana is an important part of our life  =)  It makes us very happy and that’s what’s life’s all about after all! But yes, of course all of us have got other projects/activities outside the band. Some of us make a living only out music, and some don’t. For example, Diego forms part of two other projects (Helker, Electronomicon). On the other hand, Pablo, our piper and whistler, is after a PhD in Physics (no kidding!).

9/ Que nous réserve Triddana pour l'avenir ?

This is only our first album out, after a lot of hard work. For the moment we are working so that it gets better known. This will involve playing shows here in Buenos Aires this year, and if the conditions are right, farther beyond as well! We'd really love to tour outside the country.

10 / Derniers mots à vos fans ?
On est infiniment remerciant pour tout le soutien qu'on reçoit en ce moment et on espère qu'ils apprécieront notre premier album et tout le reste qui ne demande qu'à éclore dans le futur !
